In Loving Memory: Touch Ung

25 APRIL, 1976 – 1 MAY, 2022

Touch Ung was a person who was always available to help anyone who asked with their professional career.  He was my mentor, a teacher, and a coach. He inspired success in others.

He taught me to be patient, knowledgeable, organized, competent, respectful, and have an ongoing good relationship with colleagues and other crew members. Touch was a dear friend and was always there to help. He was an inspiration not only for me but for all those surrounding him. He will be dearly missed.

Touch helped me get promoted to the Guest Relations department. He coached me for two weeks in advance to prepare for the interview with the Fleet Guest relations Director; during my daily operation on the job, he constantly coached me to improve my performance and gave me some additional responsibilities to support the team.

In 2018 I resigned from Celebrity cruises to come to Canada — Ottawa to study Hospitality management at Algonquin College; having no family in Canada, I contacted him while he was working in Montreal during this time. He promptly answered my request to help me in the job search the same day. First, he gave me some coaching sessions by email on how to improve my resume; after making the changes, he double-checked and made some additional comments, and after approving the final version, he sent my resume to his friend Matthew Pavone who was Front Desk Manager at the Sheraton Ottawa. Less than a week later, I was contacted by the Hr manager of that hotel for an interview and got the job the same day — that was my first job in Canada; Touch Ung helped me have my first job in Canada.

Last year, I graduated from the hospitality program and already have three years of working in the hospitality industry in Canada; I am very grateful for his guidance and coaching. Today I have professional success because of his teachings; he is one of the individuals who contributed to making this success happen.

May his story motivate you to give help to others whenever you have the chance. May we all learn from his outstanding qualities! Click here to find details of his obituary.

You will be dearly missed my friend!

MESSAGE OF COMFORT:

The Bible states that God “will wipe out every tear from [our] eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.”—Revelation 21:3, 4
